Description of trip

It starts from South Africa, following the Panorama Route by car between panoramic points, canyon and water-sculpted formations. White River is the base for exploring these landscapes before reaching the Karongwe private reserve.

Here the journey changes rhythm: the departures at dawn and in the afternoon follow the movements of the animals, accompanied by the rangers. Between one safari and the other one rests at the lodge, with meals already organized.

After one night in Johannesburg, you fly to Mauritius. In La Pirogue you are expected seven nights on the west coast, between the beach, tropical garden and free days. A proposal that combines the pleasure of exploring autonomously at the time to dedicate themselves to the ocean.

The journey day by day

Reference proposal with 12 nights and 13 days from arrival in South Africa to departure from Mauritius. Travel days from Italy and the date of return depend on flights. Hotels, rooms and services will be reconfirmed in the estimate.

Day 1 · White River

Welcome to South Africa

Arrival in Johannesburg and meeting with an Italian-speaking person to receive vouchers and directions. Internal flight to Mpumalanga, rental car withdrawal and transfer in autonomy to White River. Accommodation at the Stille Woning Guest House for the first of the two nights planned.

Day 2 · Panorama Route

Between canyon and great views

After breakfast, a day by car along the Panorama Route. The route suggests God .s Window, Bourke .s Luck Potholes and the views of the Blyde River Canyon with the Three Rondavels. You choose the stops according to your own rhythms, with return to White River for the overnight stay. Admissions and meals of the day, in addition to breakfast, are not included.

Day 3 · Karongwe

The first safari at sunset

Breakfast and follow-up by car to Karongwe Private Game Reserve. Arrival at Karongwe River Lodge for lunch and accommodation for two nights. In the afternoon, first collective photo safari in 4×4 open vehicle, with English-language rangers. Return after sunset, dinner and overnight stay. It is important to agree the arrival time to participate in the exit.

Day 4 · Karongwe

A day in the rhythm of the savannah

Departure of the first morning for the safari, followed by breakfast at the lodge. Lunch and time available before the second exit in the afternoon, until sunset. Dinner and overnight. Meals are included during the stay in the reservation; drinks are excluded.

Day 5 · Johannesburg

The last safari and the return to the city

Last safari in the morning early, then breakfast and check-out. Departure with the car to Johannesburg airport: the program indicates a transfer of at least five and a half hours, to be planned with time for stops and traffic. Return of the car and shuttle to the Peermont Metcourt Hotel, in the Emperors Palace complex. Overnight; lunch and dinner not included.

Day 6 · Mauritius

From the Savana to the Indian Ocean

Breakfast and shuttle to Johannesburg airport. Flight to Mauritius and private transfer, with English-language driver, to La Pirogue, on the coast of Flic en Flac. Start your stay seven nights in Beach Pavilion with all inclusive treatment, according to availability and conditions of the confirmed proposal.

Days 7–12 · Mauritius

Six days to live on the sea

Free days between the beach, the pool and the tropical garden of the resort. Time to rest, stay together and choose the activities you want. Excursions, spa treatments and extra experiences can be added separately. The stay continues with the all inclusive formula provided by the hotel.

Day 13 · Return

One more look at the ocean

Check-out and private transfer to Mauritius airport, according to the time of the flight back to Italy. Schedules, timetables and arrival date will be specified in the final air operation.

Before you go

Is it a guided tour or a journey in autonomy?

The part in South Africa takes place with rental cars, driven by travellers. Upon arrival in Johannesburg there is a reception in Italian. The safari are collective and accompanied by rangers; in Mauritius the transfers are private with a driver in English.

When do you leave and how long?

The departures are on request and the duration can be customized. The reference proposal includes 12 nights: two in White River, two in Karongwe, one in Johannesburg and seven in Mauritius. The sequence starts with the arrival in South Africa on day 1 and ends with the departure from Mauritius on day 13; the flight days from Italy and the date of return depend on the operative.

Where are the safari?

In the private reserve of Karongwe, staying at the Karongwe River Lodge. The proposal includes four 4×4 open exits: one on the afternoon of arrival, two on the following day and one on the morning of departure. The itinerary does not provide an independent visit to Kruger National Park.

In what language do safari take place?

The rangers conduct the safari in English. The departure times are communicated by the lodge and must be respected to participate in the planned activities.

Is it guaranteed to see all the Big Fives?

The animals live in freedom and sightings depend on their movements and conditions of the moment. The rangers guide the search and explain the behavior of the animals; no single sighting is guaranteed.

What does car rental include?

The rental is provided for the South African part. Vehicle category, blankets, franchises, storage, fuel, tolls and cost of return to a different location will be specified in the estimate and in the rental conditions before confirmation.

Is Panorama Route a guided tour?

You will travel with your own rental car. God owings Window, Bourke, Luck Potholes and Blyde River Canyon are the stops suggested by the program. Admissions are to be paid separately.

What meals are included?

Breakfast in White River and Johannesburg. In Karongwe are included meals from lunch on arrival to breakfast on departure, with drinks excluded. The seven nights in Mauritius provide all-inclusive treatment of La Pirogue, within the limits of the confirmed formula.

Which hotel is scheduled in Mauritius?

La Pirogue, in Flic en Flac on the west coast, for seven nights in Beach Pavilion with all inclusive. Structure and room type will be reconfirmed according to dates and availability.

Are care provided for the bride and groom?

The proposal may include advantages reserved for the honeymoon. Alessia checks those applicable to the chosen period, the conditions and documentation required, including the marriage certificate. Any special dinners or tributes will be listed in the confirmation.

Are flights and luggage included?

The proposal includes flights scheduled by the route. The reference programme indicates 30 kg on intercontinental flights and 23 kg on internal flights: airlines, routes and actual allowances will be reconfirmed in the air operator.

How much is the cost and insurance included?

The price is prepared on request according to dates, flights and accommodation. The estimate will also specify the insurance coverage proposed and their cost: the inclusion of a policy is not indicated in the reference programme.

Can we change the number of nights?

Yes. It is a tailor-made trip: duration, accommodations and services can be adapted together with Alessia, with a new check of availability and price.
